Julianne Becker is desperately in love with her boss, Nick Matthews. She has daydreamed about him since the day she first met him a year earlier, but she is firmly stuck in the friend-zone until New Year’s Eve, when the game completely changes and she finds out how Nick really feels about her.

They embark on a sexy affair that’s everything Julianne ever dreamed of... except she can’t tell anyone about it. What will happen if anyone finds out about their secret relationship? And how will her lifelong best friend, Travis Miller, react when Julianne begins a relationship with someone who isn't him?

How He Really Feels is a novel that explores relationships and love between coworkers and friends. It contains some adult situations and is intended for mature readers.

My Review :

A truly romantic romance story. No over the top dramatics. No wondering when the other shoe will drop and no typical something or another twist ripping the lovebirds apart only for them to reunite again after suffering much heartache and pain, usually self inflicted.

I've read so many of "those" that this story line was truly a breath of fresh air. Just a sweet romance.

Not to say there weren't any twists, there definitely was, namely a love triangle. I am not a fan of those. No author has yet been able to make me believe in the "triangle". I have always looked upon them as the protagonist causing the triangle as selfish and self serving. Not in the case of Julianne though. She was just a woman making bad choices and a bit oblivious to the fact that her best friend was in love with her. And they did have a relationship at one time but it has long been over, but apparently not for Travis. Though, Travis did take a bit of advantage too.

These "faults" made her a real person to me. And we've all done that. Assuming, not paying attention to nuances, or not really listening to someone. All the characters were faulted, including the perfect Nick, who I adored.

I digress and am jumping around a bit. But only because the story thrilled me so much to actually be a pure romance story that the typical cliches that normally irritate me with contemp rom, didn't this time!!

So why do I love this story and why did I award 5 stars your wondering?

I loved the story because it was a romantic story. Just pure romance.

Julianne and Nick have been crushing on each other for a year. When they finally do get together, it is just pure sweetness ans they are both very honest with each other. And even though they have to keep their relationship quiet, Nick is Julianne's boss, they are still willing to try. Even with Travis right in the middle of it, and Julianne making some silly mistakes, the story was very endearing overall.

Gave me all the feels and smiles.

Really good ending for Julianne and Nick, lovely romance. The author continues the story with book 2, How He Really Feels, which will be Travis' story. Should be very interesting to know his thoughts as well as his future plans.

So yes my friends, a definite must read for those of you looking for a sweet romance without the usual shoe dropping cliches.

Absolutely loved this story and will forever be stalking the author! Review will also be posted on my Loved These shelf on Goodreads.
