Emma Chase, New York Times bestselling author of the Tangled Series, returns with the first installment of the Legal Briefs Series.

As a DC defense attorney, Stanton Shaw keeps his head cool, his questions sharp, and his arguments irrefutable. They don’t call him the Jury Charmer for nothing – with his southern drawl, disarming smile and captivating green eyes – he’s a hard man to say no to. Men want to be him and women want to be thoroughly cross examined by him.

Stanton’s a man with a plan. And for a while, life was going according to that plan.

Until the day he receives an invitation to the wedding of his high school sweetheart and mother of his beloved ten-year old daughter. Jenny is getting married — to someone who isn't him.

That's definitely not part of the plan.

Sofia Santos is a city raised, no-nonsense litigator who plans to become the most revered criminal defense attorney in the country. She doesn't have time for relationships or distractions.

But when Stanton, her "friend with mind-blowing benefits" begs for help, she finds herself out of her element, out of her depth, and obviously out of her mind. Because she agrees to go with him – to The-Middle-Of-Nowhere, Mississippi – to do all she can to help Stanton win back the woman he loves.

Her head tells her she's crazy...and her heart says something else entirely.

What happens when you mix a one stop-light town, two professional arguers, a homecoming queen, four big brothers, some Jimmy Dean sausage and a gun-toting Nana?

The Bourbon flows, passions rise and even the best laid plans get overruled by the desires of the heart.

My 5 Star Hunk, a Hunk of Burning Love Review...

I haven't been this excited about the release of a new series in while. And why? Because I love Drew Evan from the Tangled series. And it is no secret that his creator, Emma Chase is one of the best tellers of the male POV. So when the chatter started about the Legal Briefs series, a bubble of excitement in my belly started brewing. Then the excitement turned to nerves.

Was it possible for lightening to strike twice? Would there be to much comparing to the delectable Drew?

Could Emma Chase bring some new men to the table that we would love just as much as the men from Tangled??

Yes my friends yes!!

And that man shall be...Stanton Shaw *sigh* and his theme music...
Lord Almighty,
I feel my temperature rising
Higher higher
It's burning through to my soul...

Because I was literally on fire ever time he spoke! A smooth Mississippi attorney, charming, personable, completely alluring and aside from Elvis Presley's "Burning Love" playing a small part in the story, and I can no longer hear said song and NOT think of Stanton Shaw, this is a character you absolutely sing to the choir over! I could go on forever about him!

And that is Emma Chase. She writes a man so flesh and blood real, you truly think of them that way...real and you want them!

And as much as I love Stanton, to sum it up who he is in one sentence...

“You’re so stuck on what you think is supposed to be,
that you’re missin’ what’s right in front of you.

As much as Stanton is brilliant, charming, sexy, funny, the total drooling package, he is clueless.

And I love that he is flawed, yet always wants to do the right thing, to stick to "his plan". And in sticking to his plan is where he is most flawed.

Then we have Sophia. She was a dynamo and I am in love with her as well!

Brilliant, passionate, fiery, can stand her ground with anyone, and loves Stanton. It pours out of her but she keeps it contained and is willing to just be his friend with benefits. Because of his plan.

It's not until Stanton has to make a unplanned trip home to confront issues that will just mess up his plan, we see different sides to these two, and again more of the infamous "plan".

And tt's while back home that Stanton starts to realize things are not always as they seem and maybe it's possible to start moving in a different direction. Moving forward with who he really wanted all along.

Overruled was hysterical, brilliantly written, had a fantastic flow to the story line, characters you completely love and are engaging, secondary characters worth their salt, and swoon worthy dialog and banter.

Emma Chase has done it again!!!

About the Author:

 photo emmachase_zpsb0227876.jpg
By day, Emma Chase is a devoted wife and mother of two who resides in a small, rural town in New Jersey. By night she is a keyboard crusader, toiling away the hours to bring her colorful characters and their endless antics to life. She has a long standing love/hate relationship with caffeine.

Emma is an avid reader. Before her children were born she was known to consume whole books in a single day. Writing has also always been a passion and with the 2013 release of her debut romantic comedy, Tangled, the ability to now call herself an author is nothing less than a dream come true.
