Where We Fell is the debut novella by Amber L. Johnson. I was invited to participate in the cover reveal by Kathie of First Page to the Last and received the ARC from Sydney Logan. I can't thank these ladies enough for including me. Having read the ARC and loved it, the cover is just spot on for the story! I love when the cover fits the story.

My Review:
Where We Fell is the story of Oliver, who was diagnosed with cancer a few days before his high school graduation, and Hannah, on summer break from college and working in the local diner.
Oliver's feelings are so palpable you can't help but tear up for him. His feeling of numbness were so realistic, you just nodded your head in agreement as the chapter unfolded.
Hannah is a carefree and outgoing girl, yet there was some darkness in her past. She spot's Oliver in the diner the day he was diagnosed. She proceeds to spill coffee on him, buys him pie to make up for it, and then eats it in front of him as she rambles on and on to him. Oliver is very taken with her, and distracted, if only momentarily from his despair.
They strike up a friendship that leads to overwhelming feelings for each other culminating in love. There are mountains and valleys along the way, their relationship was not an easy one. Typical mistakes were made on both sides, making the story very believable. There is also the big "C" at every turn hovering over both their heads, from treatments, sickness, loss of hair, loss of hope, and the slow but steady belief that Oliver may have a chance. They both push forward believing in the hope.
The story was beautifully written and the characters very engaging. The story line was well rounded and the characterizations spot on. Not an easy task for a novella. There was no rushing to a conclusion, a conclusion I might add you weren't sure of. And while the author definitely took you on an emotional ride, I kept hoping for the HEA. I say hoping because I just wasn't sure. Amber L. Johnson had the ability to take me down her path all the while giving me feelings of trepidation.
Such a good story and a definite must read from this debut author.
I loved it.
I really wanted more of Oliver and Hannah, could have read about them for days and not had my fill. I am really looking forward to more from Amber. If Where We Fell is any indication of her magic, she has a tremendous future ahead of her. Amazing debut.
Absolutely loved this story and will forever be stalking the author! Review will also be posted on my Loved These shelf on Goodreads.
My Favorite Excerpt:
"I know that I fell for you the second you bought me pie, but I wouldn't admit it to myself until my birthday.

You are my favorite part of every single day.
No matter how big or small. You helped me get here. I couldn't get through these past six months without you. And I don't want to go through the next six if you're not with me. I think I would rather have died than imagine being here, so close to you, and not..."

About the Author:
Amber is a full-time mom, full-time wife, is employed full time, and writes when she can. She believes in Happily Ever Afters that occur every day - despite the obstacles that real life serves up on a regular basis. Or perhaps they're sweeter simply because of them.
She always has 2 rubber bands on her wrist, a song in her head, and too much creamer in her coffee cup that reads 'Cocoa' - because she's a rebel. If she's not at her desk, with her boys, or behind the computer, she's supporting live music with her arms raised above her head and eyes closed, waiting for the drop.
*ARC received in exchange for a fair review.
Big thanks to Kathie & Sydney for including me.
